Job Description

Do you know cricket inside-out? Are you good at planning, strategising, writing and editing strong content across a suite of major international sporting websites? Driving content that can work on owned sites as well as tying into social platforms? We are looking for a Senior Website Editor to help guide and produce brilliant copy and typo-free publishing for a major client. 


The successful candidate will be responsible for growing traffic on our client’s owned assets through strategic SEO, IA and other deep understandings of what a 2021 website needs to be successful. 


This role requires an in-depth understanding of how our clients can best use content and paid campaigns to drive their individual KPIs – whether it be brand awareness, increasing participation, or selling tickets and subscriptions.  You will need a combination of strong journalism, client publishing and CMS knowledge, as well as a fanatical enthusiasm for all things cricket.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing the daily editorial operations, including overseeing a team of journalists to ensure deadlines are met and editorial and audience targets are achieved across the team.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day content across the websites, and ensuring each piece of content meets each site’s editorial standard, is error free and ready to publish from a legal and client publishing viewpoint
  • Publish content and work with external partners to look for cross-posting opportunities
  • Work with senior editorial and creative staff to plan and execute a comprehensive content plan
  • Engage with fans and followers to build relationships with the community and encourage engagement
  • Build relationships with official partners, official bodies, industry professionals and journalists
  • Contribute to creative ideas for video content as part of output strategy 
  • Control a content calendar across international time zones
  • Monitor project KPIs, working closely with the insights team
  • Manage the budget for freelance contributors, video production and other costs
  • Monitor the success of the community and of websites in terms of the overall marketing strategy
Key skills and knowledge:
  • Extensive digital editorial experience in media and/or relevant industry
  • A strong background in writing and creating content that engages audiences and drives conversations
  • Experience with content management systems, Photoshop and analytic tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of best SEO practice
  • Experience in content management and the development and implementation of content strategies
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • The ability to manage stakeholders from a broad range of functional roles


  • Full journalistic understanding of the English language
  • Even better if you also have the ability to create journalism in at least one Indian language
  • Excellent in-depth understanding of all relevant website content disciplines 
  • Strong knowledge and experience of digital publishing software and techniques
  • Elite copywriting skills including excellent spelling and grammar, as well as writing techniques to capture particular audiences
  • Ongoing awareness and interest in trends across sport and digital media, digital publishing, online video, social media and sports output internationally 
  • In-depth understanding of digital marketing mix (social, mobile, email, content, SEO, paid, analytics) including performance measurement against campaign results
  • Knowledge of international cricket 
  • Knowledge of relevant cricket audiences
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience in a client-facing role
  • Ability to identify and track relevant community metrics
  • Ability to interpret website traffic and online customer engagement metrics
  • Experience working in the sports industry is preferable
  • A degree in journalism, sports journalism or media will be an advantage
  • Work flexible days, according to the appropriate sports-related calendar
  • Able to perform under pressure and to work to tight timescales
  • Be a good communicator with strong relationship management skills
  • Salary dependent on experience
